Women deserve better
health education.
WHLES is helping build it.
The Women’s Health Literacy & Empowerment Study (WHLES) is a community-centered research initiative led by researcher Oluwatosin Adeniyi-Miller, MPH, and developed through a partnership between Criado and Emory University.
For too long, women have been expected to navigate their health without the knowledge they deserve.
Many women grow up learning about their bodies through silence, misinformation, fragmented internet searches, or rushed healthcare experiences. WHLES was created to better understand:
What women currently know about hormones and reproductive health
Where they receive health information
How confident they feel navigating their health
What culturally competent education could look like moving forward
At Criado, we believe body literacy is a form of empowerment, prevention, and community care.
Research Focus
Hormone literacy, reproductive health education, health confidence, and trusted sources of health education.
Community-Centered Design
Built in partnership with women and communities whose voices are often excluded from traditional health research.
Long-Term Vision
To help shape more equitable health education tools, programs, and systems for women across the lifespan.
